Kim Clijsters is back!

Kim Clijsters sent a big message to the tennis world, by eliminating Venus Williams in the 4th round of the US Open.

The unranked Belgian, playing only her 3rd tournament since her return, took the opening set to Williams, attacking and coming to the net to take advantage of the rallies as she went on to shock her American opponent, 6-0.

Things seem to get back to reality, when Venus Williams improved her serving in the second set and Clijsters produced more unforced errors after a great opening set. Williams took advantage of this and even the match up, by taking the set 6-0.

Momentum was on Williams side going into the third set, and despite missing two volleys at the net in her opening service game, held on. Clijsters, who was more defensive in the second set came out attacking in the third, a similar approach that allowed her to control the opening set. She held on to her opening set to slow down Williams' momentum and then switched momentum to her side by breaking the favourites serve in the next game. Clijsters was getting back to her best and ensured the break by holding onto her serve.

Williams' screams continued to bellow around the court, but didn't fluster the returning Belgian until her final service game at 5-4. Three errors from Clijster gave Williams two break points to tie the match up, but Venus was unable to take advantage as Clijsters was able to take the next four points and setup a quarter final match against Na Li.
